Summary

Should she live or die? You decide

An adored celebrity has been killed。 Sixteen-year-old Martha Honeydew was found holding a gun, standing over the body。

Now Justice must prevail。

The general public will decide whether Martha is innocent or guilty by viewing daily episodes of the hugely popular TV show Death is Justice, the only TV show that gives the power of life and death decisions - all for the price of a phone call。

Martha has admitted to the crime。 But is she guilty? Or is reality sometimes more complicated than the images we are shown on TV?

Wowww。 Okay, I'll be honest, I don't like Martha's name。 But the book itself is this really, really fantastic and interesting discussion of justice and media and corruption and it really gets you thinking, so definitely recommended。 And kudos to Isaac, darling Isaac, who does not get enough *screen* time。 Wowww。 Okay, I'll be honest, I don't like Martha's name。 But the book itself is this really, really fantastic and interesting discussion of justice and media and corruption and it really gets you thinking, so definitely recommended。 And kudos to Isaac, darling Isaac, who does not get enough *screen* time。 。。。more

Really enjoyed this! It's been on my TBR for a loooooong time and I finally got to it。 Excellent for those who enjoyed Flawed, Moonrise, The Loop, Hunger Games, Reality Boy, Legend, Proxy for their themes of: justice, power, corruption, televised voyeurism, poverty, capitalism, punishment, rich/poor divide, unlikely champions。 CW: Very mild sexy fun times and a few f-bombs。 Really enjoyed this! 3。5 stars。 Guilty or innocent? Trial by media, and genpop。 This was an intriguing premise, but wasn't fulfilling。 It seemed like the author wanted us to be shocked about certain twists, but she made them so predictable。 Still, it kept me interested, just didn't hit the mark for me。 3。5 stars。 Guilty or innocent? Wow。 I did not expect this to be good BUT surprise: It was。 I did not read a dystopian novel in a really really long time (more than a year) but I picked this one up for school。 So actually。。。 for educational reasons。 To be honest: I would have totally read it in my free time as well。 The story and the whole concept was enjoyable and there were some amazing plottwists。 The book combined a bit of romance, drama, thriller and a dystopic future into an exciting scenario。 I liked the main character Wow。 I did not expect this to be good BUT surprise: It was。 I did not read a dystopian novel in a really really long time (more than a year) but I picked this one up for school。 So actually。。。 for educational reasons。 To be honest: I would have totally read it in my free time as well。 The story and the whole concept was enjoyable and there were some amazing plottwists。 The book combined a bit of romance, drama, thriller and a dystopic future into an exciting scenario。 I liked the main character and I'm kind of interested in book two especially because this book ends on a cliffhanger。 Anyways。。。 there were some things that could have been better。 This book was dramatic and at times highly emotional but I missed one thing: metaphors and beautiful language。 But who am I to complain。。。 thats the authors choice。 I just thought it could have fit well。 Another thing are the characters。。。 I felt like there was so much left to tell about them。 Maybe some background information will be coming in the next books。To conclude: this was an enjoyable but relatively short read。 I felt with the characters and was "inside the world" but the book didn't destroy me like some others do。 Go for this if you are looking for a light but fun read! 。。。more

A great book。 Gripping the whole way through with a solid story line。 A great beginning to what I can only imagine is an amazing trilogy

This storyline was quite different and unique。 It reminded me of a game show but with guilty and innocent lives on the line。 A justice system with no evidence, and game show hosts putting ideas and words into their viewers heads。 Leaning them to an outcome they want to happen。 "An eye for an eye" is their motto however it isn't quite fair when they haven't found the person who committed the crime。 This storyline was quite different and unique。 It reminded me of a game show but with guilty and innocent lives on the line。 A justice system with no evidence, and game show hosts putting ideas and words into their viewers heads。 Leaning them to an outcome they want to happen。 "An eye for an eye" is their motto however it isn't quite fair when they haven't found the person who committed the crime。 。。。more

Lots and lots of good discussion points in this young adult novel! This book had me gripped from page one and I couldn't put it down。 I loved how the characters connect。 I loved the extremely tense atmosphere throughout, working out what actually happened and of course, wondering if Martha really would die for a crime she didn't commit。 Just like in Hunger Games, the rich sit at home, content and happy, watching people die for their entertainment。 While the poor fight to be heard, knowing how corrupt the system is。 Once again, we see how the divide between classes can effect the lives of those in the cells。 Excellent book。 。。。more
